Wow! I can't believe that are are already into October. Time goes so fast once we get into the swing of the new school year.
We have been really busy in class. We are publishing personal narratives in writing, using text evidence during reading, ended our first mission in math. Mission 1 was multiplication and Mission 2 is measurement and data, specifically telling time to the minute and calculating elapsed time. In addition, measurement in grams and kilograms will be covered. Later in Mission 2 will be adding and subtracting double digit numbers. We will continue to work on mastery of the multiplication facts which is going well for most children. In science, we learned about pollination and plant reproduction as well as selection and what to do to grow a certain type of apple or to grow a REALLY BIG pumpkin! I have read aloud a few picture books as well as the chapter books Bunnicula and a Magic Treehouse book. One of my favorite times of the day is during our reading time; the kids are so focused and involved in their books! I love it!
Well, happy fall!
Sincerely, Dana Jackett 3rd Grade Teacher University Park Elementary
